ILSA has been operating a mobile attendant care program, called “Dusk 2 Dawn” since 2010. The program includes a small fleet of vehicles, driven by trained support workers who support clients in their own homes and community with specific support which is time constrained in nature.
The program was developed to be flexible and offer short cost effective daily drop-in support of at least 15 minutes in duration up to 1 hour. Support is structured in a run of support grouped with other clients. The benefit is that often client’s don’t have to pay for a minimum of 2 hours to receive support which may only take 15 minutes to complete.
The specific time constrained support which Dusk 2 Dawn offers may include:
While the NDIS changes the funding model of disability support we recognise that there is still a demand for short term flexible support. We offer our fleet of vehicles as an additional support service alternative to NDIS funded clients.
Dusk 2 Dawn operates 7 days a week, including public holidays, however times are largely dictated by our Clients. The Dusk 2 Dawn program structure supports attendant care timeframes of at least 15 minutes to 1 hour in duration in and around Cairns. Currently there are night runs of support nearly every evening from approximately 2pm to 10 pm. Other support schedules during day hours are determined by client demand and so many fluctuate on an ongoing basis.
If you feel that you may require support of this nature please contact our office and discuss your needs and support times with our Dusk to Dawn Manager.
